Preparation:
- Because in Project Method Approach is not simply to achieve learning objectives but to encourage the development of students who can do more than receive, recite and apply the knowledge they have acquired. They are expected not only to be mentally excellent, but also flexible, analytical and creative.
- In the Traditional Approach, the traditional information absorption model of teaching is that the teacher is the one who organizes and presents information to student-learners. The teacher may use the chalkboard, videotape, newspaper or magazine and photos. Then the presentation is followed by a discussion and the giving of assignment. While in the Upgraded Project Approach, students work on projects with depth complexity, duration, and relevance to the real world. In this approach students would make decisions about what to put on the project, how to organize information and how to package the outcomes for presentation while the teacher guides and facilitates the learning process. In this approach also, the students are advised to use computer application and high technology in doing their projects.
- To fully implement the Project Approach, teachers need to develop an understanding of the underlying dynamics of the processes of project work. The processes intrinsic to the Project Approach are realized when the teacher begins to encourage children to (1) develop their own questions about the topic under investigation, (2) make predictions about possible answers, (3) think of ways to test their hypotheses, (4) negotiate with the teacher various ways they might represent their findings, and (5) take time to solve their own problems through trial and error.
